DOGS KNOW DOG LOVERS

MEET THE OWNERS

Lisa and Tim Crosby lived in Truckee, California, and raised their three sons, always having two Samoyeds, from 1992-to 2015. Tim grew up with Samoyeds in his big family with six siblings. Tim gave Lisa a Samoyed puppy after their engagement and so began their marriage and lifetime Samoyed ownership. Lisa and Tim have owned 9 Samoyeds for over 36 years before becoming a breeder in 2022.

Samoyeds are a family-friendly breed that loves an active lifestyle, the outdoors, and people, especially children! They were Lisa and Tim’s hiking and backcountry skiing companions and a big part of our camping trips and dog-friendly vacations.

Lisa’s career in Education included forming a nonprofit private school in Truckee and her dogs always came to the office. Their job was to comfort anyone upset and to play with the students during recess and lunch break. This job was a very important part of the school culture. Fast forward to 2016, when Lisa began her current endeavor Academic Transformations, as a literacy and math specialist and education consultant. The dogs helped struggling students as well as traumatized children with educational challenges. Samoyeds are a way of life in the Crosby family and everywhere they go with these beautiful dogs they are breed ambassadors spreading smiles and happy feelings to all they meet.

When Lisa found Stoli Bear in Russia, Lisa hand carried him home on the plane and she noticed he was exceptional in so many ways: temperament, bone, coat, gate, and intelligence. We then went on the hunt for a foreign unrelated female from championship lines that held the characteristics of the breed standard. Then they found Lilah, whose father looks very much like Stoli Bear. After DNA testing showed they both passed with clearances of all genetic diseases and shared an ancestor 12,000 years ago, we knew we had something very special to move forward with our first litter. And so Sierra Samoyeds began, with the birth of their first litter on March 7, 2022, of 6 healthy pups who all thrived.

Our goal is to bring diversity from the best of Europe to the American Samoyed lines. Our goal will be to use one or more dogs from each litter for breeding purposes and provide loving homes to families whose lifestyle suits the breed. Allowing the Samoyed to have a job in the family is a wonderful way to utilize their genetic talents. Samoyeds love to accompany their people anywhere on adventures, pull sleds with supplies or children, comfort anyone lonely or suffering, perform agility, and so on. This breed has enriched our lives and we are excited to provide that opportunity for others to own an exceptional example of the Samoyed breed.
